Black Cottonwood Buds Fresh
IN STOCK AND ON SALE NOW!
The 2026 season is underway, and you can get your hands on cottonwood buds freshly harvested from the Cascade Foothills of Western Washington. Our groves are surrounded by natural forests, vibrant mountains, and an abundance of clean water. You’ll be receiving top-notch buds for your herbal projects.
These sticky, aromatic buds are used to make oils, salves, tinctures, and even soaps. In the west, Poplar resin is the source of Balm of Gilead, the versatile healer known since biblical times. Concoctions made with this powerful resin have been used for centuries to relieve pain and treat skin conditions.
As the season progresses and spring leaves unfurl, only dried buds will be available. Get them fresh while you can!
Our buds come from what we call black cottonwood or Populus trichocarpa. You might also know it as western-balsam poplar or California poplar. We make every effort to pick only leaf buds and leave behind the catkin buds which hold no resin.
